fall latte

Nuts for Fall Latte

Autumn is here. With the change of the leaves comes the change of our preferred tastes, enticing our mouths to salivate after catching a hint of a fresh brisk breeze. Much to our delight, our nature made décor from shades of orange, yellow, and red bring a crisp yet adorning sight of beauty. Inspired by these colors comes pumpkin, squash, and apples. Not only do these organic ingredients coincide with the transformation of the season, but they become the foundation of many fall favorite recipes.

Now many of us are overwhelmingly in love with pumpkin. Well let’s be honest, who wouldn’t be in love? Its velvety texture gives way to the easy blend of spices, creams, and sweeteners making it a common ingredient in most fall beverages, but what about the apple? Apples are exploited in the worlds of pie, cake, cider, and caramel covered treats. However, what about in coffee?

Most hot apple beverages are cider based, and it is not typical for the flavor of apple to be found in our morning brews or afternoon pick me ups. What goes well with the flavor of apple? Well nuts and caramel of course! The Nuts for Fall Latte will be a nostalgic autumn journey to that first bite of a nutty caramel apple; juicy, sweet, crunchy, and tart. Imagine this combination of flavors as you satisfyingly sip this fall brew.

This latte will be brewed using the cold brewing process which is simply the method of steeping coffee grounds in cold or room temperature water for an extended period of time compared to the quick and hot process we are accustomed to using. A cold brew will have a more concentrated coffee flavor.
Enjoy this drink, on a chilly fall morning to awaken your senses for the day or refresh for the afternoon.

Nuts for Fall Latte Recipe

Ingredients

  • Serves: Makes 4 cups
  • 1 cup of Madesco Labs Code Blue Coffee
  • 4 cups of cold water
  • 2 oz of Apple syrup
  • 1.5oz of Hazelnut syrup
  • 1.5oz of Caramel syrup

NOTE: Adjust flavoring amounts to suit your own tastes.

Directions

  1. Follow the Madesco process for cold brew coffee.
  2. Add the flavored syrups to your coffee and again shake well. Or if you would rather add syrups to your brew as an individual serving, place only a quarter of the overall measurement per cup serving of coffee.
  3. Place the container in the refrigerator for at least 12 hours.
  4. Once the brew is at a temperature to your liking, if you so choose to add sugar, creamer, or milk you may do it immediately before serving.
  5. Because this is a coffee concentrate, before drinking, pour some of the brew into a cup and add cold filtered water to change the strength of coffee according to your preference.
  6. Top off this delectable beverage by adding a sprinkle of cinnamon sugar and dollop of whipped cream.

This coffee is best served warm, but you can try it chilled if you prefer.
